Torà

The municipality of Torà covers an area of 93.31 km² due to the annexation of the municipality of Llanera in 1968. Until 2023, the municipality of Torà belonged to the region of La Segarra; now it belongs to the region of Solsonès and borders the regions of La Segarra and Anoia.

The municipality has a population of 1,236 inhabitants (2023 census) and the main population centers in this municipality are the town of Torà, the municipal capital where most of the population is concentrated, and the villages of Cellers, Claret, Fontanet, Llanera, l’Aguda, Sant Serni, and Vallferosa. The municipality’s economy is mainly based on agriculture and industry. The cultivated area is mainly occupied by cereals, as well as patches of olive and almond trees. There are also small irrigated sectors, mainly dedicated to vegetables for family consumption. Livestock farming complements agriculture.

The industrial sector in Torà is based on the agri-food sector (animal feed), construction materials, and electrical materials and equipment.
