Clariana de Cardener

The municipality of Clariana de Cardener with an area of 44 km², is located half way between Cardona and Solsona. The population of 158 (2023 census) has always been scattered and sparse and in the last thirty years has been on a steady decline. The central location of Clariana de Cardener has turned it into a meeting place. The Cardener River was traditionally used for power generation for mills and supplied water for vegetable gardens. In recent times, many modern projects have been implemented with varying degrees of success. One example is the building of the St Ponç reservoir which resulted in a beautiful and exceptional lake.
