The Lord Valley Museum
The Lord Valley Museum is an interesting complement to a visit to the Church of Sant Llorenç de Morunys. It is accessed via the cloister, on the south side of the church, where it occupies part of the ground floor of the monastery’s old priory house. The museum is managed by the Lord Valley Cultural Association, founded in 1946 and comprising a group of townsfolk committed to the conservation and dissemination of the history, traditions and cultural and landscape heritage of the area. The collection brings together a variety of objects of interest, which include baroque items, such as sculptures from the workshop of the Pujol family, a bas-relief with an image of the Risen Christ, believed to be from the sixteenth-century shrine in the high altar, and some paintings that hung originally in churches throughout the valley. It also has a loom and a room featuring reproductions of the plaster tiles depicting plants and vegetables that decorated the moulding on the beams of houses and churches in the region, a practice that dates back to the Middle Ages.
